Fashion Brief

Here are the images that me and my group produced from a 2 week fashion brief we were set, this was to help us gain key skill such a experimentation with location shooting, working to a deadline and exploring the genre of fashion photography. The breif itself was "You

working
in
a
team
for
a
creative
agency.
 Your
agency
has
been
commissioned
by
a

fashion
editorial.
The

known
 magazine
across
 6
 pages.
" We were required to include 2
 Long‐Shots

 Close‐Up
 and 2
 Mid‐
Shots
, the final shot could be either of these or having a 2 page spread was acceptable. We chose at random our magazine companies and our brands. My group picked out "Love magazine" and "French Connection". The first thing we did was to go off and research the target audiences, the genres of people it may draw, the age range, the themes they use and the intentions they have. We found out "Love Magazine" was "a twice-yearly compendium of inspiration - for designers, for artists, for anyone looking for visual ideas; for anyone who loves fashion and design so much that they want to climb inside the heads of their heroes. Fashion is part of a creative cross-cultural dialogue and, for this reason, LOVE opens its readers to the most exciting developments in music and art as well as fashion to reveal the shape of tomorrow's aesthetics in its purest form."
"The French Connection brand operates in the fashion-orientated market place offering a fashion-forward range of quality products at affordable prices. Our customers, typically aged 18-35, appreciate that the brand is at the leading edge of high street fashion and offers quality and style in its products. We design ranges of products for both men and women from underwear to outerwear, casual wear to suits, denim and accessories." After finding out about them both we looked at subscriptions of the magazine within the past couple of years and found that they had looked at the nineties and after looking back at french connection and their range of smart casual clothing range, we decided to put together a "back to the nineties" range. We then thought about the different outfits we would use as we still wanted to keep the clothing smart casual to fit in with the brands styling.
We chose crop tops, denim, wedges and other recognisable fashion from the nineties. We also then looked at how french connection present their images within magazines and on images online, we found that they often used catchy phrases and slogans to draw viewers in, many of the quotes were ironic to what was within the image. We chose to work upon this and include phrases within our images to once again draw it back to their theme of presenting.
After looking at a lot of their advertisements they shot a lot of their work within the studio, so because of this fact and also because of a series of events that led us towards working inside we thought shooting in a studio would be best, we also kept the greyscale of both their work and our work similar as we wanted to produce a body of work that could really fit in well with their way of working.
